Scenes From Our Weekend

We are trucking along through Summer.  I can’t believe June is almost over!!

Meet my new favorite dress, obsessed is an understatement!   Also I have been wearing these earrings nonstop.  I am wearing a small in the dress.

Friday I stopped in my favorite home store Celadon Home.  They were running an awesome sale all weekend.  I am working on a den remodel and loved everything in there!

Outfit details:

Blouse | Jeans | Necklace | Sandals

I met a friend for lunch at Pickled Palette.  It is a yummy lunch spot in Mt Pleasant.  Their pimento cheese is so good.

I always get the veggie sandwich.  It is legit good.

Friday Night I had a dinner date with Frances since Sterling had a sleepover.  My girl loves queso.

Snuggled up in my bed.

Saturday we hit up Glazed and the Farmer’s Market.  It was so hot though we didn’t stay long.

Tee Shirt | Shorts | Sunglasses | Tote Similar | Sandals

We hit up the pool to cool off!  Lots of questions about  my one piece.  It is old Mara Hoffman.

Swimsuit very similar | Sunglasses

We had our neighbors Rick and Gary over for happy hour Saturday night.  We just adore them.

i made two new apps and will share the recipes Wednesday!  White Bean Summer Dip + Caramalized Onion, heirloom tomato and zucchini tart.

We had this wine it was so good!  They visited the vineyard in CA and brought back some tasty wines to try.   Normally I don’t like Sauvignon Blancs they can be too sweet to me but this one was great.

Sunday we went to church.

What I wore:

Embroidered Dress – also comes in red now!  Size down, I am in XS.

Sunday night I went to an event at Bowen’s Island with my good friend Erin.  The event was for @chsfoodwriter,  who just wrote her first cookbook.

There were lots of stations with yummy food!  This peach salad from The Getaway was my favorite!

Sugar Bakeshop did the dessert, it was a yummy peach upside down cake.

A gorgeous sunset to end the night.

Why in the world would you link $238.00 dresses? I realize that you get them for free but there is NO WAY I would EVER pay that amount of money for a summer dress. Good grief. You are becoming extremely unrelatable. Most people don’t have parents who are ready, willing and able to bail them out of financial messes and your I’ll bet your readership is full of stay-at-homes and working mothers who watch every dime. I work and there is just no way on this earth that I would fork over my hard earned money on a summer dress that is more than the monthly car payment on my post college car. I realize that you link, link, and then link some more in order to make money from your blog but I’m really going to just skip over your latest fashion “obsessions” and just look at the recipe ideas which are always outstanding.

You prepare the most delicious recipes and I’ve made some of them and I have not been disappointed. As a matter of fact if you didn’t post recipes ideas I would just skip this blog altogether. Food = 10. Fashion “obsessions” = negative 0.

What is wrong with you? Take your mean spirit and comments somewhere else and just ignore stuff if you don’t like it.

Lisa, maybe instead of leaving such a harsh, unnecessary comment, you make a mental note to only read recipe posts? Or better yet, unfollow Natalie all together. Surely, as a hard-working woman, you have better things to do with your time and energy than leaving nasty comments on a strangers’ blog. For some people, $238 on a dress is not unreasonable. Maybe they are wanting to treat themselves or maybe they simply have the means. Either way, bringing up someone’s private life, relationship with their parents, and finances, all of which you know nothing about, is just unnecessary. Your comment reflects more negatively on you than it ever would on Natalie. I hope you find a blog that you relate to and that brings you joy.

Well dear, she has brought up her parents bailing her out of financial distress on her blog. She has also talked about her finances on her blog so it’s not like I “know nothing about” it as you put it. These blogs ALL present a unattainable lifestyle for the majority of the people who read them. Passing off this hyper consumption of over priced disposable consumer goods as “normal” sends the wrong message to young impressionable readers. Spending money like this is just not reality for the vast majority of people, this is how people get into debt. “Treating” yourself to a $238.00 dress is not the ONLY way to “treat” yourself. You can be good to yourself without spending a dime by going on a bike ride, getting enough exercise, taking the dog for a walk, volunteering and doing a ton of other things that don’t require blowing a couple hundred dollars on something to hang in your closet. These “lifestyle” blogs have turned into nothing but a never ending commercial for the Nordstrom half off sale, Loft, Anthropologie and a million other things that are linked so that the blogger will get clicks to so that the money will continue to flow OUT of the readers wallet and INTO the bloggers wallet.

Whether you agree with it or not, this is her job and how she makes a living. She puts time and effort in to this every day, just like anybody with a “traditional” job. I sure don’t show up at work everyday to do my job and not get paid for it. If you don’t like it, don’t read her blog, don’t click on any links, and don’t buy anything. Your judgmental comments and mindset are way more detrimental to young impressionable readers than anything she posts. If people are getting in to debt because they are buying things they can’t afford, that is a personal issue, with deeper roots than a blog posting. Not once has Natalie ever said you must buy these clothes and your life must look like mine to be happy, on the contrary, she has been open about her personal life and her own struggles. Stop reading lifestyle blogs, stop leaving crappy, shaming comments, and do what makes you happy!

You are ridiculous. Who takes time to write and post such a mean spirited and judgemental statement? If you don’t like the blog anymore, don’t read it. But don’t pass judgements and make someone else feel bad just because you don’t agree with the content.

Maybe you should take some of that hard earned money and find a good therapist to heal the wounds that would cause you to leave such a judgmental comment about someone you don’t know.

You do you Natalie! I love a good Anthropologie splurge.

I definitely saw you at the Pickled Palate – but I didn’t want to crash your lunch date. 😛 We just moved to the Old Village and my friend and I have been wanting to try that place!

I LOVE your posts no matter the price point! Even if a piece is out of my price range, I love seeing the way you style and wear your pieces. I so appreciate the time you take to share the outfits you put together.

Natalie, I think your blog is one of the best because you are down to earth and don’t gloat that you live better than others. I don’t buy expensive summer dresses, but I love fashion and enjoy seeing them styled. You show the good and the not-so-good in life and if you choose to comment on personal matters, that’s strictly your business and not to be judged or
shamed. My parents have helped me out in the past and I have helped my adult children……nothing wrong with families choosing to do this if they can. Your recipes need to be in a cookbook.
